The Great Carpentaria Experence Tour is an incredible journey that will delight Photographers, Railway enthusiasts, Plant and Bird lovers and those interested in the geography and history of the Carpentaria region.

10 Day Fully Accommodated Tour with all Accommodation, Meals and Associated Tour Costs included.

The journey begins from Cairns on a Thursday morning and continues on the famous Inlander Train over the Great Dividing Range, through the mining and pastoral districts, and into the magnificent Gulf Savannah Region. Although a small area of Queensland, the Gulf Savannah Region is an area almost the size of the State of Victoria.

During the next 10 days we visit the spectacular Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, Burketown.

The journey now takes us to the little Bynoe River, the site of Burke and Wills Camp 119, where we learn of the Great Explorers.

We travel:

• across the Big Plains, visit Normanton and Karumba
• Experience an outback journey on the famous Gulflander Train
• Enjoy exploring the magnificent Cobbold Gorge
• Walk along the sandstone massifs and enjoy a silent cruise in electric powered boats on the still waters of the Gorge
• We leave Cobbold Village and travel through various Cattle Stations to Mt Surprise
• View the spectacular Newcastle Range and learn about the History and Mining Era of the Region
• The journey takes us to the amazing 190 000 year old Undara Lava Tubes
• We travel through the 40 Mile Scrub National Park, then onto Chillagoe
• Join a Tour of the Spectacular Chillagoe caves
• The Journey now takes us on the famous Savannahlander Train for a very interesting and scenic train journey back to Cairns
